Deputy Premier and Interior
Minister Matteo Salvini on Monday pledged to "go all the way"
with plans for a fiscal peace for people involved in disputes
with the tax authorities.
The plan is reportedly at the centre of disagreements between
Salvini's League party and its government-coalition partner,
the 5-Star Movement (M5S).
The League is said to want measures to help people end these
cases for disputes of up to one million euros, while the M5S
reportedly wants it limited to cases of up to 100,000 euros.
"There will be no let-up for the crafty, but there are
millions of Italians who have cases with (former tax-collection
agency) Equitalia that are taking them to the point of
desperation and suicide," Salvini said.
"In an ordinary State, you would reason with these people,
not keep condemning them".
