About 16.654 million Italians
will be traveling during the holiday period between Christmas
and New Year's Eve, an 8.9% rise on the previous year.
They will stay outside their homes for an average of 3.8
nights.
Some 36.4%, however, will take a longer holiday encompassing
both the holidays, hoteliers' association Federalberghi said.
About 88% of the travelers will remain in Italy at Christmas
while the rest will travel abroad.
At New Year's, 72% will stay in Italy.
Overall revenue resulting is expected to total 11.6 billion
euros, a 17.6% rise on the previous year.
