The 95th edition of international
menswear trade fair Pitti Uomo is kicking off Tuesday in
Florence at the Fortezza da Basso with 1,230 brands, including
542 from abroad, showcasing their fall-winter 2019-2020
collections.
The leading trade fair wraps up on Friday.
Belgian designer Glenn Martens, the creative director of
Paris-based label Y/Project, will be the special guest of this
edition of Pitti.
Aldo Maria Camillo of the eponymous label Aldomariacamillo,
who has previously worked for Zegna, Valentino, Cerruti and
Berluti, will present his first collection at the Pitti Italics
special event.
Another initiative mixing fashion with art and music, Slam
Jam, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with an event at the
Marino Marini Museum.
Other initiativeswill include Art-Meets-Fashion, a special
project by brand Haculla Haculla.
The label inspired by the work of street artist Harid Guzman
and its creative director Jon Koon will be presenting an
installation dedicated to the evolution of New York's street art
and innovative materials.
At Pitti, snow boots brand Moon Boot is also celebrating its
50th birthday with an event at the Stazione Leopolda and a
special exhibition space at the Fortezza.
Outdoor clothing company Woolrich is promoting another
special event while sneakers brand Diadora will celebrate its
70th anniversary with the exhibit It Plays Something Else.
Ecoalf, a pioneering brand in sustainable fashion, is
launching a capsule collection entirely made in Italy with
sustainable and recycled fabrics designed by stylist Ana Gimeno
and designer Tiziano Guardini at the Fortezza and Villa
Strozzi's Limonaia.
Herno is presenting its collection Laminar- Sartorial
Engineering, an evolution of its Herno Laminar line debuted in
2012 at Pitti Uomo.
Allegri is unveiling its now collaboration with British label
Cottweiler, designed by Ben Cottrell and Matthew Dainty, called
Cottweiler for Allegri: a capsule collection of 10 raincoats.
Portugal will be the guest country of this edition of the
trade fair with labels Caiagua, Ecol, Hugo Costa, Ideal & Co,
Labuta, Nycole, Poente and Westmister.
Pitti's agenda will include the second edition of the
Scandinavian Manifesto with collections by designers from
Denmark, Sweden and Norway at the Arena Strozzi.
Another key event of Pitti 95 is the Tokyo Fashion Award with
the presentation of collections of six up-and-coming Japanese
labels: Anei, Cinoh, Jieda, Nobuyuki Matsui, Postelegant,
Rainmaker.
