Italy's inflation rate was steady
at 1.2% in 2018, the same as 2017, ISTAT confirmed Wednesday.
Underlying inflation, net of energy and fresh food, was also
steady at 0.7%, the statistics agency said.
Inflation in December fell to 1.1% from 1.6% in November,
ISTAT said, again confirming its preliminary estimates.
Italy's inflation trolley of most frequently bought goods
rose 0.7% in December, ISTAT said.
This compared with a 0.9% rise in November, the statistics
agency said.
In 2018 the trolley prices rose 1.2%, in line with the
general annual inflation rate and down from 1.5% in 2017.
Inflation in 2018 hit the least well-off Italian households
the hardest, ISTAT said.
For the 20% of families with the lowest spending capacity,
inflation rose by up to 1.5%, compared to 1.4% in 2017, the
statistics agency said.
The best-off households had an inflation rate of 1.1%, down
from 1.3% in 2017, ISTAT said.
