Italy beat odds-on favourites the
USA to their first ten-pin bowling world crown on Tuesday.
The all-professional US team were seen as dead certs to snag
their unmpteenth world championship in Hong Kong.
But Italy, who had beat Canada 2-1 in the semi-finals, beat
the American hot-shots 2-0.
The Azzurri were led by coach Massimo Brandolini.
"World champions!", exulted Italian Olympic Committee (CONI)
chief Giovanni Malagò.
"Proud of the historic world success obtained by the Italian
#bowling team against the United States in Hong Kong.
"Compliments to the federation led by Stefano Rossi and the
fantastic team of coach Brandolini. Thank you, boys."
