Italian police on Wednesday found the dismembered body of Manuel Careddu, an 18-year-old man who went missing on Sardinia in early September and for whose murder five youths including two minors have been arrested.
The body was dismembered and the back of the skull was staved in, police said.
Careddu, who is believed to have been killed after demanding payment for some drugs he had supplied the gang, was found in the countryside outside Ghilarza near Oristano.
The body was found on a piece of land where one of those arrested, 20-year-old Cristian Fodde, had worked and near where there are other pieces of land belonging to Fodde's family.
Another two 20-year-olds, Matteo Satta and Riccardo Carta, were arrested on October 11 along with two 17-year-olds: a girl from Macomer, the victim's home town, and a boy from Macomer.
The 20-year-olds are all from Ghilarza.
Police have said the five persuaded Creddu to take a ride with them to a destination where he would be paid, but it was a one-way journey for him.
He is said to have been owed a few hundred euros.
